"In preparing this book the following people were invaluable: Keith Hudson, who was a powerhouse of ideas and supplied me with "NUMEROUS OUT OF PRINT BOOKS" needed for reference." Andrew Boot, Auther of "Psychic Murder Hunters" .
From The Guardian newspaper:
Keith Hudson, 62, is the vice-president of Walthamstow spiritualist church
"When I was 23, I kept seeing a man in my head and I didn't know who he was. It was driving me crazy and I thought, 'What's going on here, I'm just an ordinary bloke?' So I went to see a medium who worked as a psychic artist. She drew him, produced this picture, which was exactly the face I was seeing, and said she thought it was my grandfather. I showed the picture to my mum and she said, 'No, Son, that's your great-grandfather.' He died six years before I was born. That was my first psychic experience and I then went on to train as a medium.
"I never got on with my father. He'd got it into his head that I wasn't his. I have an older brother and a younger sister. They're both dark-haired with dark eyes and I'm fair. Because I didn't look like the other two, he'd shout at me and say, 'You're not my son.' It was horrible for me and my mum. He was nasty.
"He died when I was 48. The same night he passed, I went back to his house. My brother had given me his wedding ring to look after. I was holding it and then I put it on. And then I thought, 'What the bloody hell am I doing wearing his ring?' I took it off and that's when the temperature in the room felt like it'd dropped 60 degrees and he appeared in front of me. He said, 'I'm sorry, son. I now understand.' He called me son and he was sorry. I just broke down and cried.
"He has come back since. He'll pop in at Christmas and say, 'Hello, Son'. I feel at peace, and getting that recognition from him gave me an amazing sense of release. My dad's now my best friend. I speak to him all the time."
The loss of Marcia, who had been my idol, friend, and mentor for a long time, was devastating to me, but I did go on to write ASTROLOGY AND PAST LIVES, ASTROLOGY AND RELATIONSHIPS, and THE PSYCHOLOGY OF SPIRIT. From 1991 to 1994, I lived in England (which had been one of Marcia's cherished dreams) lecturing, giving readings, performing music, etc.
While living in England I became acquainted with Keith Hudson, a medium who ran a New Age bookstore in Walthamstow. My musical group rehearsed every week in the back room of his store. One night Keith and everyone in my group went down to the local pub. When I walked in, Keith told me that a woman walked in with me whom he thought at first was my aunt. As he continued to communicate with this woman, however, I realized it was Marcia.
The story about the growth on her neck in the above article immediately caught my attention. During Marcia's US tour in 1977, I didn't hear from her for weeks, and I was worried about her, so I did a horary chart which strongly indicated that she had a growth in the head and neck area which needed to be excised immediately.
When she finally got in touch with me, I told her about the chart, and she brushed it off. Later, after she had returned to Ojai, she told me that she did have a growth, and would have it taken off as soon as possible. Obviously, she never did.
Back to the pub in Walthamstow: When I asked Marcia how she died, she told me that the growth had become cancerous, and spread to her body. She didn't seek medical treatment for it, however, because she basically had given up, and so it spread until it was too late. According to what Keith told me, she said that she had actually given a lecture the week before she died. "I was scheduled," she said, "and so I gave it." That was just so like Marcia I didn't know what to say!
Through Keith, on the day she disappeared she told me that she had gone out for her usual walk and died. She thanked me for carrying on her work, and then the conversation ended.
Now here's the truth: I had never spoken to Keith Hudson or anyone involved with the musical group about Marcia. My focus at that time was mainly about music. And Keith had never heard of her before. (This was England, after all.) He could not have known about my involvement with her, or about the growth on her neck, or even about her books. (He had none of them in his shop.) And so much of what he related to me sounded so much like her, I couldn't help believing it was all true.
Though I've been into New Age thought for many years now, I'm still a skeptic. There are a vast number of sincere and excellent New Age teachers that we can thank our lucky stars for, but there are too many phonies as well, who give the rest of us a bad name and may be retarding the message we're all working very hard to disseminate.
Marcia was a mixed-up and unhappy woman, but she was dedicated to her work. Our relationship was stormy, but I loved her dearly, and I owe her a lot. And if that wasn't her speaking through Keith Hudson on that rainy winter day in the Walthamstow pub, I don't know who it was.
Thanks for listening.
Author: ASTROLOGY AND PAST LIVES, ASTROLOGY AND RELATIONSHIP, and THE PSYCHOLOGY OF SPIRIT
Keith Hudson, vice president of the church, has devoted himself the spiritualist movement. It may feel silly to us, sensible, reasoned people, but Keith is not an idiot. He’s aware of how ridiculous it sounds to everyone else but he let’s people believe what they want. This movement isn’t being pushed and peddled by anyone; there are no leaflets being shoved in my hands at shopping malls and no one’s banging down my door. So it can’t do any harm, can it?
